The Funeral
Zhenya was standing in her parents room. Burton Cottage hadn't been lived in for some time, but it was still theirs. For some reason they hadn't sold it. She looked up at the reflection in the mirror on her mother's dressing table. It was awful. Zhenya's eyes were swollen from the tears, and even today, on the day of her funeral, she couldn't keep the tears away.
It had been the worst time of her life. Thankfully Gary had been able to take the twins from Hogwarts and bring them to the Hospital quickly. It was only five days after the accident that their father was recovered enough to sit in a wheelchair. They were all able to spend some time by their mother's bedside, saying goodbye and supporting each other before they turned off the life support.
And now, it was time to bury her. Zhenya lifted the lid of her jewellery box, hearing the familiar creaking noise as it opened. She pulled out some familiar bangles, rings, and necklaces. There was one black pearl necklace she recognised. It had been her grandmother's, given to her my her husband. Zhenya put that necklace on, feeling it fitting to wear to the funeral. There were other items in here, things that would perhaps look nice on Ava and Alana.
She sat down on the chair and stared at the pearls around her neck, thinking about her mother, and grandparents.
